Human Rights Institute (HRI) Aris Anagnos Graduate Student Research Scholarship

The Aris Anagnos Graduate Student Scholarship for Human Rights Research is an annual scholarship
from the SJSU Human Rights Institute meant to support graduate research in the field of human rights.
Eligible applicants must be enrolled full or part time as a graduate student at SJSU and
must have an interest in human rights scholarship, advocacy and/or reporting.

Recipients will be selected by the HRI Core Team with preference for the following criteria:
*Must have completed a proposal to work with a faculty member on a human rights project.
*Must provide a summary of the research design.
*Must demonstrate how their participation in the research project will contribute to their degree and how it will further their career goals.

The scholarship recipients will be announced at SJSU’s Research Week. Further, the recipient will be expected to present the findings of their research project during Research Week of the following year.

  1. Who is the faculty advisor for your human rights related research project? What will they offer and what role will they play in the process? *Please note that all proposals must include an SJSU faculty advisor.* Students might consider working under their Thesis Chair (or committee member) or a professor teaching coursework or conducting research that relates to their project.
  2. A summary of your research design. This summary should include (a) your journalistic or scholarly research questions, (b) the relevance of your project to human rights scholarship/advocacy, (c) a brief description of research methods, (d) how you plan to disseminate or utilize your results to inform our understanding or solutions to a specific human rights crisis.
  3. How will this work contribute to attaining your graduate degree at SJSU, and further your career goals following graduation?
