Dean’s Scholarship for Exemplary Teacher Candidates

The Dean’s Scholarship for Exemplary Teacher Candidates will be awarded to the student(s) best meeting the scholarship criteria.

Requirements:
- Accepted into a Single or Multiple Subject Teaching Credential Summer or in process for admission to the upcoming Fall program.
- GPA of 3.2 or above
- Initial full-time matriculation (admission) in upcoming Summer or Fall
- Minimum full-time enrollment (12 Credential units)

In order to maintain the scholarship after it is awarded, the applicant must:
- Maintain full-time enrollment
- Finish a credential in 3 consecutive semesters
- Earn a grade of ‘B’ or better in every academic course

This scholarship will be disbursed over the course of three semesters, each semester disbursement will be $5000.

The student who receives this scholarship must also write a thank you note to the donor.

  9. Essay 2: This essay should address one or more of the following themes: 1.Excellence and diversity in the context of public school 2. The teacher’s role in public education in the 21st century 3. The societal value of public education and how education serves the public good 4. How public schools can address fairness and equity for disenfranchised members of society
  10. You are required to upload two letters of recommendation from either prior instructors or members of the community who can address the following topics. i. how long and in what context(s) the applicant and recommender have known each other ii. how the applicant has worked cooperatively and collaboratively with other adults iii. how the applicant demonstrates problem-solving skills in complex situations iv. how the applicant has managed situations when there are marked differences of opinions v. how this applicant has demonstrated a sustained and meaningful commitment to any of the following: 1) community-building, 2) access and equity for disadvantaged groups, 3) social justice and fairness, and/or 4) skill-building for children and adults
