Opportunity name: Davison President’s Scholar Endowment
Minimum qualifications: Recipients are entering first-year students and are National Merit Scholars, National Merit Scholar Finalists and High School Valedictorians. (If no such applicant found in the given year, entering first year students with a cumulative high school grade point average of 3.75 can be considered). Must be California residents and demonstrate a strong record of leadership and service in their high schools and communities.
College: College of Science
Major: Must have a declared major in Biology (any concentration) or Chemistry with concentration in Biochemistry
Class level: Undergraduate students
It is the intent of the Fund to award an entering San Jose State University freshman a four-year scholarship to complete a degree program in the Life Sciences which include all majors offered in the Biological Sciences Department as well as Biochemistry.
Preference given to:
1. Full-time Undergraduates (12 units)
2. Strong record of service and leadership
3. Highest reviewer scores*
*Applications are reviewed by a committee and scored based on answers provided by the applicant. Each answer is reviewed for:
• relevance to the question
• spelling, grammar, and college level writing
• creativity
Scholarship winners will be notified by email no later than May 31.
