Emerging Filmmakers Scholarship Application

Thank you for your interest in submitting an application to the inaugural Emerging Filmmakers Scholarship!

As part of the application, we will ask four short-form response questions to gain insight into who you are as a filmmaker, your creative vision, and your future aspirations. Additionally, applicants will be required to submit one example of their work to showcase their talent and storytelling ability.

Eligibility: Any film student beyond their first year is welcome to submit an application.

The selected student will receive an award of $1,000 to put towards tuition at San José State University.

Key dates:
October 1, 2024: Application opens
November 1, 2024, 11:59 PM: Applications due
December 1, 2024 – December 31, 2024: Selection and interview process (either in person or online) for the top three applicants
January 6, 2025: Awarded scholar announced
February 7, 2025: Copacabana Screening and Scholarship Celebration
